This WoW Inscription Guide will help you to level your Inscription from 1 to 525. This is an Inscription leveling guide, if you are looking for some information about Inscription, check out this Inscription Guide.

I believe Inscription is the best combined with Herbalism, if you want to level Herbalism, check out my Herbalism leveling guide.

Updated for WoW patch 4.3

If you are low on gold, I recommend you to try this Gold Making Guide, it can help you to make loads of gold.

If you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt, I recommend you to use a leveling guide. You can level your character to Level 85 in 5 days with this Guide.

You can use [Milling] to mill 5 herbs for 2 - 4 pigments.

[Ivory Ink]/[Moonglow Ink] - [Alabaster Pigment] - Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot
[Midnight Ink] - [Dusky Pigment] / [Verdant Pigment] - Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp
[Lion's Ink] - [Golden Pigment] / [Burnt Pigment] - Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot
[Jadefire Ink] - [Emerald Pigment] / [Indigo Pigment] - Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whiskers, Dragon's Teeth
[Celestial Ink] - [Violet Pigment] / [Ruby Pigment] - Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas'Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, Gromsblood
[Shimmering Ink] - [Silvery Pigment] / [Sapphire Pigment] - Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Sorrowmoss, Icecap
[Ethereal Ink] - [Nether Pigment] / [Ebon Pigment] - Felweed, Ragveil,Terocone, Ancient Lichen, Nightmare Vine, Netherbloom, Mana Thistle, Dreaming Glory
[Ink of Sea] - [Azure Pigment] / [Icy Pigment] - Icethorn, Lichbloom, Fire Leaf, Fire Seed, Tiger Lily, Adder's Tongue, Deadnettle, Goldclover, Talandra's Rose
[Blackfallow Ink] - [Ashen Pigment] / [Burning Embers] - Azshara's Veil, Cinderbloom, Deathspore Pod, Heartblossom, Stormvine, Twilight Jasmine, Whiptail
If you are milling your own herbs, you should buy only Cinderbloom and Stormvine first, because those can can be milled at skill 425. Skill 450 also allows Azshara's Veil and Heartblossom to be milled and you will be able to mill Twilight Jasmine and Whiptail at 475.

WoW Inscription Leveling Guide 1 - 525
Just to note, there is a lot of other Glyphs and Scroll at different skill ranges with the same amount of materials needed, so where you see [Glyph of ...] for example, there you can choose between more recipes that is orange to you and requires the same amount of materials.

First, visit any trainer in the main cities of old Azeroth - just ask a guard, and learn Inscription.

1 - 19
18 x [Ivory Ink] - 18 Alabaster Pigment
19 - 35
16 x [Scroll of Stamina] - 16 Ivory Ink, 16 Light Parchment
35 - 53
22 x [Moonglow Ink] - 44 Alabaster Pigment
53 - 75
22 x [Enchanting Vellum] - 22 Moonglow Ink, 44 Light Parchment

75 - 125

75 - 80

101 - 105
40 x [Lion's Ink] - 80 Golden Pigment
Make any orange Glyph if you did not reach 105 by making these.

105 - 126
Make any Glyph that is orange to you. Your aim should always be make glyphs while they are orange. Glyphs turns yellow after 5 points, then learn new recipes and choose another Glyph.

7 x [Glyph of ...] - 21 Lion's Ink, 7 Common Parchment

125 - 200
Learn Inscription Expert.

126-129
It's important to stop making this recipe at 129! You won't have the benefits of multiple skill-ups if you pass 129! If the recipe turns yellow at skill 145, and you make that Glyph at skill 144, you will still gain 3 points.

Turn your [Burnt Pigments] into [Dawnstar Ink]. If you didn't mill your own herbs and you don't have Burnt Pigment, you can just make any Glyph between 126-129 that is orange to you.

129 - 147
6 x [Glyph of ...] - 18 Lion's Ink, 6 Common Parchment
Any orange Glyph.

147 - 150

250-255
35 x [Shimmering Ink] - 70 Silvery Pigment

15 x [Glyph of ...] - 45 Ethereal Ink, 15 Resilient Parchment
Make Glyphs until they turn yellow then learn new ones.

350 - 425

365 - 370
5 x [Scroll of Strength VII] - 5 Ink of the Sea, 10 Resilient Parchment
370 - 375
5 x [Scroll of Agility VII] - 5 Ink of the Sea, 10 Resilient Parchment
375 - 379
[Snowfall Ink] - Icy Pigment
Use all the rare pigment available. Keep the extra Snowfall Ink for Northrend Inscription Research. You will need to research to learn most "Northrend" glyphs.

It's important to stop making this recipe at 379!

379 - 382
1 x [Glyph of...] - 3 Ink of the Sea
382 - 385
5 x [Glyph of...] - 15 Ink of the Sea
There won't be any orange Glyphs for this part, this means that you will be making yellow Glyphs.

5 x [Scroll of Agility VIII] - 5 Ink of the Sea, 10 Resilient Parchment

425 - 525
Visit your trainer and learn Inscription Illustrious.

425 - 450
115 x [Blackfallow Ink] - 230 Ashen Pigment

Stop making these when you reach 450, only make more if you need it.

450 - 460
10 x [Mysterious Fortune Card] - 10 Blackfallow Ink, 10 Resilient Parchment

460 - 475
15 x [Adventurer's Journal] - 15 Blackfallow Ink, 60 Resilient Parchment

475 - 482
Turn all your Burning Embers into [Inferno Ink]. If you don't have any Burning Ember, just skip this part and start making the next recipe.
482 - 490
Go to Vashj'ir - Kelp'thar Forest. Kill mobs there until you get [Technique: Origami Slime]. The drop rate is pretty high, don't get confused by wowhead data. The recipe will be green, but it only requires Resilient Parchment to make, which you can buy from Inscription supply vendors. If you don't want to farm the technique, you should make the recipe below.
15 x [Dust of Disappearance] - 15 Blackfallow Ink

490 - 500
Go to Deepholm and kill these mobs until you get [Technique: Origami Rock]. Same as above. Skip this if you don't want to farm it.
2 x [Etched Horn] - 8 Inferno Ink, [Scavenged Dragon Horn]

Scavenged Dragon Horns are sold in Twilight Highlands by Una Kobuna in Dragonmaw Port for Horde and by Casandra Downs in Highbank for Alliance. These vendors are only available after the initial Twilight Highlands quests have been completed. The quests require at least level 84. These items are not bound when purchased, so you can buy them from other players or from the auction house.

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

500 - 510
Head over to Uldum and kill these mobs until you get [Technique: Origami Beetle]. Learn the recipe and make it until you reach 510.
510 - 520
The cheapest method would be to make [Forged Documents] up to 520 or 525. It has a 24 hour cooldown (it always resets at 0:00), but the materials are really cheap compared to the other items that you can craft at this skill level. This way it will take up to around 15 days to level Inscription.
If you really want to reach 525 as fast as possible, make 4 [Divine Companion] or [Battle Tome] or [Dungeoneering Guide]

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

520 - 525
Make one of the following items:
[Notched Jawbone] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Earth, Bleached Jawbone

[Silver Inlaid Leaf] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Air, Silver Charm Bracelet

[Tattooed Eyeball] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Water, Preserved Ogre Eye
